Life Update ✨

I've been sporadically writing a very long blog post (in my head) about being off social media for close to a year... so I wasn't going to post anything until I felt ready to get it all out properly. But that time doesn't seem to be coming anytime soon, and I've had quite a few people checking in and asking if I'm okay, alive, or where I've been. So, I figured I'd share a little update in a format familiar to those who have seen snippets of my life in little squares over the past 10 years.

I'll get around to typing out the essay in my head re: being offline for this long after being online for so long. But for now, life is full—I'm happily consumed by exciting work and the things that matter most—so here we are. ☺️

15 photos that are by no means a well-rounded depiction of the past 12 months, more so snapshots of some special moments, and a little note to let you know: yes, I'm alive and well. 💁🏼‍♀️ I really appreciate the kind messages and I also apologise for disappearing. The past year has been a time of blocking out the noise and focusing on the people close to me and what's right in front of me.

The longer I leave it, the harder it is to return to the 'gram. I miss the interactions and the beautiful people I've connected with over the years, but the app itself has changed so much from its early days. The reasons I once loved the app slowly became outweighed by the reasons I didn't, and life without it feels like being a kid in the '90s again—seriously special.

What started as a week off turned into a month ... and now, nearly a year later I can't see myself stepping back into a space that no longer aligns with how I want to spend my time on this precious little planet.

I've never felt more creative, calm, and content—while also being completely immersed, engaged and inspired with work. There's plenty to share, so perhaps blogging and a trusty old email newsletter are making a comeback? 🤓

I hope you're well and riding the wave (or rollercoaster) of life with as much ease as possible. Sending lots of love from my little corner of the world to yours!

Eeep it’s so funny how the past few weeks Elle, you had been popping into my mind and I thought hmm I wonder how you are? And then I see your name pop up in my inbox, and here I find myself checking in with you from afar. I soooo hope you’re doing well, and I’m glad to hear that your stepping away from the online world has been so nourishing ♡ I share the same sentiments with you, it can be so challenging to return to a space that no longer aligns, so lead with your intuition! So here for blogs and emails! x

Ahhh so glad to hear from you! I feel the same way but without insta I wouldn’t have connected with people like you but it’s a fine line these days. I’m finding most of the people I follow on insta feel the same way but are unsure of the next step to continue connecting with those they choose without the undesirable extras of social media.

Beautiful Elle!! SO good to hear from you. I can not tell you the number of times I have thought of you and wondered how to get in touch with you, the last year (most especially when we just went to Japan, which was one of your last times sharing to the gram - loved seeing you have such fun on the slopes then). I miss your beautiful smile, face and energy in the online space but you have to do whats right for you and my gosh you are so right-it has changed a lot and it definitely isn’t how it was. The fun and casual vibe has gone (a bit like how Byron has changed over the years!)
It’s funny, I was writing late last night – I’ve started a substack (which is kinda fun, but sometimes overwhelms me, but a good place to write), anyways… back to my point – I was thinking of you (again), and I thought I saw an email notification from you, but didn’t check (cause writing!) and have obviously now checked, and it was just so good to see your face and hear from you.
Please stay in touch and share more on your blog— I love reading blogs (but as you know, I’m old school!)
Big love to you, Sam and Sonny boy.
    xx G.
